Prerequisite: Caster level 1, Profession (Etcher).
Benefit: You can create a rune of any spell you know. The rune is commonly etched into stone, wood or other solid material but the runes can also be painted, tattooed or otherwise 'marked' on a suitable surface. The base price of a rune equals its spell level x caster level x 75gp. Etching, or scribing a rune takes one day for each 1,000gp in its base price. To etch a rune, 25% of this base price is spent in XP and uses up raw materials costing 50% the base price.
Any rune that stores a spell with a costly material component or an XP cost also carries a commensurate cost. In addition to the costs derived from the base price, you must expend the material component or pay the XP when etching the rune.
