LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS

Knowledge and training in the operation and maintenance of life support systems. The atmosphere, temperature, lighting, and any suitable envionement needed can be constructed as long as the technology and Tech-Level is appropriate, and the system being set up for a particular life form must be understood in regards to its requirements and wants. Normally, base Skill is for the environmental life support needs of the race of the the life support operator. Rating of below 25 is considered incomplete training.

Linked with Alien Races, Anthropology, Ecology, Planetary Systems, Survival, Aerobiology, Botony, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Psychology, Zoology, Biology, Human Biology, and Xenobiology, the operator can possibly sustain any life form and/or environment.

Low Ratings indicate typical average life support environment available through that level of training. Greater Ratings show a more competant training or familarityand thus finer tuning of the life support system is possible to give variable effects and/or more subtle effects.

Specialities may be taken once the Rating reaches 85% by division of the base Skill Rating as wished as long as the base skill Rating is never lowered to below 50%. Specialities gain a bonus of +20 when first chosen. (New Specialities msut be pertinent to the character's knowledge and use.)

Failure in a life support systems roll (failures of 1-20) indicates some minor deviation of support which over time will have an adverse effect on the life form. Failures of up to twice Rating have incorrectly set up the life support and some damage to the life form will occur within a very short time. Failures of greater than twice Rating give immediate fatal life support and immediate reprogramming must be undertaken or the life form will cease to function and die.

Once initial life support is set up, only occasional checks need me made. Most system have some form of alarm if life support deviates from initial set up parameters.
