SMALL BOAT USE (SAIL)

Knowledge and practiced ability in operating and sailing small boats. Gives understanding of the techniques of sailed small boat use, its equipment, and maintenance.

Once Rating reaches 68 a Specific may be chosen of either a vessel, condition (windy, calm etc.) or environment (rivers, open sea etc.). Specific starts with Rating of 61 but may divide basic skill down to 68 Rating and add to new Specific at choosing. Whenever basic skill gains an extra 5 Rating a new Specific may be taken if applicable and some experience has been gained in the same way.

When the Specific reaches 70 Rating a Specific Speciality may be taken that starts at 61 Rating, but no division may be made to add to it.

SKILL ABILITY
1-35
General skill in normal, calm conditions and in familiar environments. Craft must be familiar to user. -20 Handling.
36-60
Competant user, can use craft in all situations and conditions (except extreme) in familiar environments. Craft must be typical or similar to user. -10 Handling.
61-70
Skilled boatperson. Gives ability to use familiar, similar craft in every situation and condition, as well as all safety procedures and maintenance of craft as well as easy to medium difficulty repairs.
71-90
Professional boatperson. Can use any vessel and 'pick up' ability. to use similar vessel in (100-Rating)÷3 minutes. Allows extreme conditions without penalty and safety procedures and maintenance as well as difficult repairs.
91-100
You are at one with the wind and sail, able to circumnavigate the globe and still not upset your teacups. Gives Excess speed capability and an extra Manoeuver.
