Father: Gyran Salter - died of an incurable ailment.
Mother: Leara - died after an attack by wolves.

Slyran was born and raised in Tarnak, in the Acandrian Kingdom. Slyran's uncle Lyran Salter, was much respected by his father. While his father stayed in Tarnak, his uncle traded with all different settlements from Northway to Acandria, and all between. Slyran's father often spoke of his brother, obviously envying Lyran's freedom and ability to adventure. Lyran was a bit of a mystery to Slyran. Only appearing for short times a couple of times a Dodecate. He usually talked about the adventures he had been on, of the creatures and people he had encountered, and brought news of great cities. Slyran's father obviously wished to be more like his brother, but was a steadfast worker, and believed he could not run off with a son in tow, to possible danger. Slyran became his father's apprentice, and learnt the art of making salt.

In the 1st Dodecate, 1st Decade, 2nd Pentacade, 3rd Century, 4c Awin 21000, Lyran was brought to his brother's home, near to death. As Slyran's father tended to his needs, needs that even a local priest could not cure with Manc, Lyran spoke of a struggle with a beast-man. This explained his mysterious scar that would not heal. Lyran was craggy-faced but friendly looking, light in build but still durable. He had a scar of a major stab wound and several scratches across his back, caused by an alter-boar outlaw, named Skonno. There was some worry that maybe Lyran would become a switchskin, but after recovering, Lyran showed no signs of the curse.

In the 3rd Dodecate, 1st Decade, 2nd Pentacade, 3rd Century, 4c Awin 21000, Gyran, Slyran's father became ill. Despite help from clerics and herbalists, he kept on suffering the ailment every Sleep. Each Sleep, Slyran undertook more of the duties of the business, but last Dodecate during the particularly harsh Sleep of the 4th Dodecate, 1st Decade, 2nd Pentacade, 3rd Century, 4c Awin 21000, Gyran began to have seizures that eventually led to his passing. Coincidentally, Lyran had returned, almost feeling from afar that something was amiss with his brother.

The funeral was attended well, and life began again as normal. Lyran left, he said for a short while, and Slyran tried his best to keep the business going. However, with his father gone, and the Pentawaeks passing Slyran began to feel disheartened, when suddenly Lyran reappeared. Lyran offered Slyran a partnership in his trading. Asking Slyran to become his apprentice, so to speak. Slyran readily agreed and after selling the home business, unwanted belongings, and banking much with the noble in Black Rock, Slyran set off with Lyran to places he had never seen before.

During his time with Lyran, Slyran learnt the rudiments of trading, something of the use of sword, staff and bow, as well as picking up the skills of the wilderness, market place, settlements, and some strange tales.

For the last few Pentawaeks, Slyran has been Lyran's lackey, confidant, and now more so lately his partner. Things have began to become a little repetitive however. Then suddenly, on the Firstend, 5th Waek, 7th Pentawaek, 5th Dodecate, 1st Decade, 2nd Pentacade, 3rd Century, 4c Awin 21000, Lyran asked Slyran to leave for Buckler, a large village on the fork of the Rivers shield and Pare. He was asked to await the arrival of an Alla-Kal cleric and his companions. They would be asking for Lyran, he explained, and Slyran was to introduce himself and offer himself as a guide to Lyran in Bryton-on-Shield. Once there terms could be discussed. Slyran was to tell them that Lyran and himself will take them to 'those that know the way'. Accept no offer, but tell them Lyran will bargain with the 'worshipper of Meter".

Slyran arrived at Buckler, both excited and anxious and awaited the travellers in the Gold Boss Inn. when the travellers arrived Slyran was treated with some apprehension as they were very surprised to find themselves expected. But follow Slyran's lead they did and contacted Lyran in Brayton-on-Shield. After some negotiations the party agreed to have Lyran and Slyran guide them to a Scalbranian tribe and from there barter their way to getting the Scalbranians to show them the source of the Deathbane. Lyran also unveiled a prophecy of his own death. He explained that he knew of their coming due to the seer Shegbet, who had foretold of Lyran's death when certain events happened in succession. Lyran went on to explain that some recent events had led him to expect the group to be lead by a 'worshipper of Meter'. Lyran was convinced that this would be unavoidable and he should do well to aid them in their quest.

The group set off and after a few minor troubles arrived at the Scalbranian tribe and arranged to be guided to the Deathbane source. After retrieving the Deathbane, the party rested at the Sclabranian settlement, and went to wash in a nearby waterfall and pool. there they were attacked by Cairnvusar (Stone giants), and Lyran was separated from the main group, only to be lost when he hid in a rocky area only to have it buried by a rockfall, caused by one of the Cairnvusar. With no way to get into the rockfall and avoid the Cairnvusar from continuing their attack, they had to flee to the Scalbranian settlement. The Scalbranians were leaving as swiftly as they could. Moru, the Scalbranian Darsha, told Slyran that Lyran would now be with the spirits as the "Stone Walkers keep no food for long." Lyran said he would return in a Dodecate to see if Lyran's spirit had been contacted by Moru, the Scalbranian Hoskeg, Voolkar, accepted this and welcomed Slyran to return as they had traded with Lyran many times and thought him worthy to call friend.

The group then left and Slyran took his uncle's mule, Dribbin, with him.
