Star Wars TitleORFITE

Female Orfite wearing a Power Harness

Orfites are orangey, stocky, humanoids. They have red-tinged hair, wide noses with large nostrils and frilled olfactory lobes. To aliens, the only distinction between the sexes is thicker eyebrows in the female. Orfites have four, large lungs and live on a low-gravity world. Thus off-world they are weak and slower.

Orfites are peaceful and adaptable. Their society revolves around olfactory perception, as each produces powerful pheromones, each Orfite's scent being distinctive in much the same way that physical appearance is distinctive among Humans.

Kidron is their homeworld, a hot, tropical jungle dominated planet. Society is calm and the Orfites hold individual freedom and responsibility to society as very important. Hospitable and pleasure-seeking are good descriptions of the Orfites as a whole. Generous and eager to share they also in turn expect others to share with them.

Travelers to Kidron and especially those that stay, are called 'guests' by the Orfites. Having little understanding of the larger galactic culture, they feel people have a right to live in peace, as long as they abide by their rules. No questions are asked and no facts are volunteered. This open attitude has encouraged many who are outside of the usual society laws or ways; rogues and unfortunates have traveled to Kidron in great numbers.

Sahh's (tribes), control vast tracts of jungle. Family units of Orfites build their own homes within the sahh territory. Plentiful food and water and little need or wish for advanced technology ensures that a more complex organisation is unnecessary. Within a sahh, each individual has immense freedom of choice and action. A simple legal code exists: Before using the possessions or land of another, ask their permission. Even for crimes such as theft, assault or murder, punishment is a form of permanent scarring of the offender's face and banishment from the sahh. Sahh's never take in a scarred Orfite.

Government is by the entire population of the sahh, using a majority vote. No leaders are selected. If a decision cannot be decided upon the traditional way is maintained. Meetings are held in a common meeting area; the frequency of which meetings, depends upon the needs of the sahh. Those that disagree with a decision are free to leave at any time. Unhappy or disgruntled Orfites occasionally group together and leave the sahh to begin their own sahh, settling in the unclaimed and untended wilderness. Warfare has never occurred between sahhs as the Orfite is less aggressive when compared to many other aliens. However, another faction of Orfites have created the 'Council of Gordek', based in the 'High City of Refuge', they mediate among the sahhs and act as an official representative for the Orfites. Two Orfites, the male is wearing an Orfite Scent Mask

Technology is basic, Orfite scent-based technology such as the 'Orfite Breath Masks', along with the 'Power Harnesses' are the most commonly encountered Orfite goods, after kril meat and exotic plants that is.

Four is considered a special number in Orfite society. A bringer of luck; Kidron has four moons, each Orfite has four lungs and the first guests were four in number. People who travel in a group of four, or have a ship that has four in the name or transponder code are considered lucky and are often fawned over. They are given special benefits by Orfites in the hope that some of this luck will rub off, they receive price discounts, better services, preferred seats at restaurants or social activities and may receive small gifts.

Economy is not fully regulated as barter is the usual practice of trade. Sahh's are self-sufficient communities where each individual has a purpose to the sahh. Each Orfite produces their own kril, the mainstay of the Orfite's diet. Sahhs and individuals will aid others who cannot, for whatever reason produce enough of their own kril. Kril herding is common for all Orfites. Secondly to this self-help role, their role to their society is equally important. Healers, weavers, cloth makers, storytellers and tool makers are just some of the Orfite professions.

No recorded Orfites have ever been known to utilise the force, although this does not mean it is not possible.

Orfites speak Orfite, but many learn to speak Basic or even smatterings of Gamoreese.

Known Orfites: Grea, Talrea, Fran, Braill, Ormen, Sassen.
