S.D.C. (STRUCTURAL DAMAGE CAPACITY)

PHYSICAL S.D.C.

Almost all humans,D-Bees and animals have a Structural Damage Capacity (S.D.C.). Akin to natural toughness and thick skin it represents the natural armour of the being. Only when this capacity is breeched are Hit Points then lost. S.D.C. applies to non-Mega-Damaging combat and indicates damage to the physical body, but is not life threatening.

Determining Physical S.D.C.:
Most humans and D-Bees get a certain amount of S.D.C. to start. Each O.C.C. (or R.C.C.) should indicate how many S.D.C. points a character gets. Many Physical skills provide additional S.D.C.. All S.D.C. bonuses are cumulative and should be totalled to get the given S.D.C. of a character.

If the O.C.C. does not indicate the S.D.C. then by default all characters start with: 2D6+12. Plus any O.C.C. or R.C.C. bonuses.

S.D.C./Hit Point damage comes first off their current S.D.C.. This S.D.C. damage has little or no bleeding, nor internal injury or serious damage. Bleeding may be minimal and stops naturally within 1D4 melee Rounds (15-60 seconds) and does not count towards blood loss.

Some damage will bypass S.D.C. and apply directly to Hit Points, skipping S.D.C. completely.

Once S.D.C. is 0 and gone then Hit Points take all additional or future damage.

STRUCTURAL S.D.C.

This second kind of S.D.C. applies only to inanimate, non-living structures.

Not everything is made of Mega-Damage materials (M.D.C.).Most common items have S.D.C. Indicating the total amount of damage the object can withstand. When an objects S.D.C. is reduced to 0, it is broken, shattered, or smashed beyond repair.

S.D.C. armour may be available, and has an Armour Rating (A.R.) as well as S.D.C. A.R. indicates how much protection is afforded by the armour (or object) and how easy it is to penetrate the armoured protection.the higher the A.R., the better.

If an attack roll, with all bonuses,is less than the A.R. the armour absorbs the attack - subtract the damage from the armour's S.D.C.. When the S.D.C. is depleted, it no longer affords any protectionand is useless. Any future attacks will hit the character's body and inflict S.D.C. and then Hit Point damage.

If the attack, including all bonuses,is higher than the A.R., the attack penetrates the armour and inflicts damage directly to the character's physical S.D.C. and/or Hit Points.

Defenders always win ties. So if the roll to strike is 16against somebody with body armour A.R.16,the attack hits the armour, and only damages the armour, because it did not surpass the A.R..However, if the strike roll had been 17or higher, the attack would have struck an area not covered by the armour or punched right through it, doing damage to the character's S.D.C. underneath it.
