SEREVMEN

Serevmen are the most common, noticeable race on Lawner. Other races may well be in greater numbers but the diversity of Serevmen and their presence in the Lands of Law is immense. They effectively control the land despite generally being less magical, or less skilled as say the Galanir' folk or the Cairngroms.

There are several sub-species of Serevmen, but by far the greatest in numbers are common Serevmen. Next come the diversified Plainsmen or Barbarians, these are usually considered less civilized and are usually more nomadic than the normal Serevmen. Even smaller in numbers are a few other sub-species including Pomerainians, Tresselem, D' Jani-Sa-Ferra and the Corvans.

An average Serevmen is pale skinned, males tend to be six feet in height while the female is a little shorter at around 5 feet 10. On average they are between 140-210 pounds in weight, dependent upon their profession and natural build, again with females being a little lighter in general, perhaps as low as 112 pounds in weight. On average they have black hair, cut to any length or style, and blue eyes. One thing you may have noticed about Serevmen is that their average is a very large majority of their numbers. A large gathering of Serevmen often produces a sea of similar height and coloured hair and skin tone, some other races have great trouble in identifying one Serevmen from another. Blonde, red, light brown or white hair is a rare thing on Lawner amongst Serevmen, ginger is practically unheard of. Occasionally a blue tinge is discovered but usually grows out with age. Eyes are rarely anything but blue, but occasional browns, greens, greys or violets can happen.

Highly adaptive the Serevmen can put their minds to almost any task, they have gained skills and abilities ranging from simple farming to complex architecture and building works to Mancery and it's craft. They are blessed with many deities and seem to need order and reason to exist.

They live in societies in hamlets, villages, towns or cities, some however do live alone, away from society.

Monarchs normally rule them, but due to their tendency towards law and goodness they rule fairly and lightly. Taxes are placed but often removed when times get better, or are very hard. Monarchs have a feudal system of ruling and their nobles are often completely in charge of how they run their own provinces.

Serevmen are generally monogamous and the females can produce between one to four young, with one being typical. Young take around fifteen years to mature, but maturity is often not to do with age but the society in which they live, some societies having higher maturity ages while some may allow children as young as ten to become adults and begin training in apprenticeships. Often it is particular professions which dictate at which age training should begin. Serevmen can live almost anywhere given enough food, water and some shelter, they are generally a hardy folk but suffer from short lives and a limited resistance to disease or pestilence when compared to many other races. The average life span of a Serevmen is between 55-85, dependent on the environment in which they live and their profession. Females are the same as males in this context.

Serevmen are adept at all physical aspects and are adequate in their senses, few in their numbers have Manc naturally, but seem to be able to acquire it with time and training, perhaps absorbing it into their bodies as they focus their minds. Some Serevmen have special abilities manifesting in some relationship with an element or some such thing, but this is generally rare.

They share a common tongue but also have localised dialects, while some sub-species have completely different languages, all have the power of speech and many can write and learn other languages. Literature is generally restricted to scholars, religion and Mancery, or for records of public and court proceedings. Finance is often heavily recorded on paper.

Settlement is the keyword for Serevmen, that and expansion, for no other race has spread so far in their time on Lawner, than have the Serevmen. The Galanir' retreated before them, but in friendship. The Cairngroms trade with them and the Hethins live in amongst them, all good races are free to mingle with the Serevmen in general, only a few settlements of Serevmen do not accept other good races.

Music comes in many forms, singing is the main form of natural instrument, but they craft other instruments such as horns, harps, lyres, violins, drums, flutes, whistles, rattles and have many different styles of music and speeds.

Dwellings come in the forms of houses or cottages mostly, some do create dwellings with more than two stories but it is only the wealthy that can afford to do so. They keep animals in barns and pens and often fence off their grown food.
